At present, the most pressing bottleneck to the growth of Ethereum is its performance and scalability. We are building the most elegant solution to this problem. OP Labs is building Optimism mainnet, and by extension, the infrastructure that powers all OP-Stack chains. We are improving Ethereum’s performance by orders of magnitude and donating the profits from doing so to funding Ethereum public goods. By operating as a Public Benefit Corporation, OP Labs can align its incentives with the public good and take positive-sum steps toward a sustainable future for the internet.

As the Engineering Manager of the Protocol Security team, you will be responsible for the team's output; securing Optimism and by extension, all ecosystems built using the OP Stack. This role involves integrating security engineers into existing technical teams to enhance our security posture. You will own both the individual development and ongoing growth of the team. Ideal candidates care deeply about building amazing teams, security, and the future of the Internet.

What are the role responsibilities?

  • Build out the protocol security pod with a focus on effectively embedding engineers across the engineering organization
  • Lay the foundation for the protocol security pod through team management and hiring
  • Maintain and develop growth plans for all members of the protocol security pod
  • Oversee and support in setting technical direction for all things protocol and governance security

Basic Qualifications

  1. 4+ years of engineering management
  2. 2+ years of hands-on software development experience
  3. Experience building and/or securing EVM-based protocols or applications
  4. Strong grasp of security engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience developing cross-functional security programs
  2. Experience managing red teams and/or auditors
  3. Familiarity with the blockchain security ecosystem
