Merry Christmas From LaborX!

2023 Roundup It’s been a huge year for LaborX, as our devs have been working non-stop to implement new features and integrations, and tens of thousands of new users have signed up to find work and post employment opportunities. Here are some of the headlines and biggest developments from the last 12 months.

User Numbers Soar

LaborX’s community of service providers continues to grow rapidly, despite the uncertain conditions in the crypto space over the past 12 months. The platform has seen an incredible 80,000+ new sign-ups from talent profiles this year, and almost 5,000 new customer accounts.

This is particularly impressive given the wider landscape of retail investors staying away from crypto. It’s clear that there is still appetite for earning digital assets, suggesting (as we’ve seen in previous years) that recruitment and freelancing might be one resilient area, even when the wider blockchain space is experiencing uncertainties.

Key Updates

Over the course of the year, we have implemented a large number of different features and extensive new functionality, aimed at making LaborX more convenient, appealing, and easy-to-use for both customers and service providers.

Full-time jobs

We have added the ability to create and search listings for full-time jobs, recognising that a growing number of organisations and individuals are interested in this functionality. This feature currently operates mainly as a kind of jobs board, but we’ll be building it out further over the coming months.

New pages

In addition to streamlining the UX for uploading and applying for full-time jobs, we’ve also improved the workflow for freelance positions. A series of new website pages enables filtering vacancies based on skills and roles; talent selection pages; and a dedicated page for the full-time jobs module.

Scam prevention

Because LaborX is an open Web3 platform, anyone can use it to upload jobs and hire talent. However, these benefits also make its users a target for scammers, who can also sign up easily and post fake work opportunities.

In addition to educating our users about the problems of scammers in Web3, we have also implemented a system to combat scams on the platform, allowing us to remove fraudulent jobs and ban scam users quickly and effectively.

One of the most important means of avoiding falling victim to a scam is ensuring that all communication takes place on LaborX. Do not be tempted to move conversations to Telegram or other platforms, or to engage with ‘employers’ who don’t want to escrow funds before getting you to complete a task (these should be major red flags).

As a part of our efforts to encourage people to communicate only on LaborX, we have improved the chat functionality, allowing for more efficient messaging within the platform.

AI candidate selection

We’ve found that popular job opportunities can attract dozens or even hundreds of candidates. While this is a nice problem to have, it places a significant burden on employers!

Fortunately, AI offers a powerful solution, enabling customers to select a shortlist of the most suitable job applicants quickly and reliably.

Further updates

  • We have introduced an easier, more straightforward registration process for new users.
  • Improved SEO and integrated high-quality analytics.
  • Launched an ambassador program, which now has over 7,000 registered participants!

New Blockchains And Tokens

One of the big themes for 2023 has been the increase in L2 platforms and greater adoption for other L1 chains, as activity on Ethereum mainnet drives gas fees to uneconomical levels.

In the interests of reducing blockchain fees and appealing to new communities, we have added support for Fantom, Arbitrum and Optimism.

We’ve also added a number of popular new tokens for payments, based on community interest, including Fantom (FTM), Floki Inu (FLOKI), crvUSD, Symbiosis (SIS), Paint Swap (BRUSH), Galaxy (GAL), ShibaSwap (BONE) and BABYDOGE.

Rock Stars Campaign

In addition to building our grassroots presence, we have launched a partnership campaign, called ‘Rock Stars’, to bring awareness of LaborX.com to Tier-1 companies – aiming to increase our influence and become a recruitment resource for some of the biggest names in the Web3 space.

The campaign involves partnering in co-marketing activities with trendsetters who are well-known and admired in the blockchain world: the rock stars of Web3. These companies have huge communities, millions of users, and generate an enormous buzz in the crypto sphere. In short, they need no introduction. Their impact is recognised throughout the industry, and any mention from them (let alone closer association) translates into significant exposure.

Results

The campaign has been an amazing success, with dozens of partnerships established to date – including with Bybit, Gate.io, 1inch, Rarible, Galxe, Fantom and many others. These partnerships have resulted in new integrations, payment methods, and HR activities.

  • We have integrated LaborX with a number of well-known Web3 platforms – including Arbitrum, Fantom, Floki, Shiba Inu, Symbiosis, Curve Finance, and others – enhancing connectivity for a more efficient ecosystem and new functionality.
  • New payment methods – including top trending tokens such as Arbitrum, Fantom, Floki, Shiba Inu, Symbiosis, Curve Finance, PaintSwap, and others – offer freelancers additional choices for payments and rewards, in the currency of their choice.
  • Our HR activities have been focused on creating a thriving LaborX ecosystem that encompasses many different project communities. As well as optimising our hiring workflow, making the process more transparent and straightforward, and adding numerous full-time job opportunities, we have also consulted with HR representatives from a large number of market-leading companies (including 1inch Hardware Wallet, Gelato Network, Swaps, Ditto, Clique, Galxe, Asquids, Swisstronik, Lynx, Rarible, Gate.io, Bybit, and others) about their work culture and specific nuances of Web3 hiring.

Looking Ahead To 2024

Altogether, 2023 has been a fantastic year for LaborX, as we have built on the solid foundations laid down in previous years and positioned the platform for what we believe will be a jobs boom, as the Web3 space further professionalises and blockchain becomes embedded as a mainstream technology.

Look out for our upcoming post about the new developments we’re planning for 2024!
