Requirements for the Position:
Circle seeks a proficient Sanctions Compliance Director to oversee the formulation and administration of Circle’s Sanctions Compliance Program. As a key figure in the Compliance team's defensive line, you hold responsibility for crafting and executing mandates and norms for Circle’s Sanctions initiatives. Collaborating with business and compliance/risk counterparts, your role entails timely counsel provision, ensuring adherence to pertinent regulations in all jurisdictions where Circle operates.
Responsibilities:
As the Sanctions Compliance Director, your duties will include:
- Orchestrating the end-to-end Sanctions strategy, drafting policies, standards, and other procedural documents.
- Providing regular guidance on sculpting sanctions screening platforms and controls for Circle’s services in line with applicable sanctions provisions.
- Carrying out data analysis, formulating business requirements, resolving emerging challenges, estimating, and validating new feature implementations.
- Assessing and advising on compliance risks and control enhancements to various stakeholders and clients for risk mitigation related to AML and Sanctions.
- Offering ongoing advisory to businesses on new ventures, products, and customer affairs with respect to policy applicability and resolution of compliance predicaments.
- Conducting research, analysis, and proposing remedial actions for matters posing sanctions or reputational risks.
- Overseeing control evaluations and assisting in company-wide Sanctions Risk Assessments.
- Keeping tabs on key Sanctions regulatory alterations, enforcement actions, and pertinent industry trends.
- Collaborating with Compliance Operations team to operationalize the Sanctions Compliance agenda.
- Cooperating with Legal, Product, and internal teams to support licensing processes across diverse regions.
- Engaging with regulators, examiners, and auditors in reviews of the Compliance program.

Qualifications for Candidates:
To qualify for this role, you should bring:
- 12+ years of compliance experience, focusing on Sanctions programs.
- 5+ years of team management expertise.
- Compliance background in banking, consulting, or cryptocurrency, with a preference for RegTech or Fintech exposure.
- Demonstrated experience in regulatory examinations and articulating insights to examiners.
- Profound knowledge and experience with OFAC, UN, and other Global Sanctions compliance directives.
The position offers day-one PERM sponsorship for eligible candidates.

[Base Pay Range: $190,000 - $242,500; Bonus Target: 20%]
