Description
** Material Artist | Seedworld**
We are looking for skilled Material/Shader Artists to join our team for the groundbreaking Seedworld project in Unreal 5.2+. As a Material/Shader Artist, you will leverage your expertise in Unreal Engine and various artist software to create and optimize shaders for assets and landscapes in Seedworld.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Art Department team to develop shaders for assets and landscapes in line with Seedworld's artistic style.
- Create shaders and procedural textures based on reference artwork and under the guidance of the Art Director.
- Produce high-quality shaders for human characters and fantasy elements meeting the Art Director's expectations.
- Implement shader optimization techniques to adhere to memory and frame rate budgets.
- Work with Art Directors, Technical Artists, and Developers to streamline the pipeline efficiency.
- Research and apply new shader development techniques as needed.
- Actively engage in technical and artistic discussions and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
- Document work to improve internal and outsourcing communication within the team.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of shader development experience in the gaming industry, with a track record of at least one AAA game shipped on PC or console within the last 5 years.
- Proficiency in Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush, Mudbox or equivalent software.
- Extensive experience in shader development for Unreal Engine, including all shading tools.
- Familiarity with node-based shaders, HLSL, and basic development skills (e.g., C++ knowledge).
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong expertise in shader development within Unreal Engine.
- Comprehensive understanding of shading, texturing, and look development.
- Ability to balance technical knowledge with artistic vision and collaborate effectively with the Art Director.
- Experience in creating complex shaders such as for water, SSS, and foliage.
- Knowledge of OpenGL GLSL/HLSL and lighting in Unreal Engine.
- Proficiency in 3D requirements before shaders, UV mapping, and texturing pipelines.
- Strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and fluency in English.
Bonus Skills:
- Proficiency in developing shaders using ShaderFX for Maya.
- Knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Mel, C++, or Blueprints.
- Experience with FX shaders.
