Overview
The Data Engineering team, within the DevOps department, holds a pivotal role at BitMEX by effectively managing and processing data streams from the trading platform to sustain business functions across divisions such as business development, compliance, risk management, and marketing.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain enhancements for data warehouse, data lake, and data pipelines to enhance reliability and consistency.
- Enhance accessibility to expansive historical datasets by leveraging industry-standard tools and meticulous data representation and aggregation techniques for technical and business insights.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4+ years in data engineering showcasing expertise in designing and implementing data warehouses.
- Proficiency in managing OLAP databases, understanding their distinction from OLTP databases, and adept data structuring and modeling with an emphasis on critical data points for balancing storage, performance, and usability considerations.
- Experience in constructing, deploying, and troubleshooting dependable, idempotent, and coherent data pipelines sourced from diverse in-house and external data channels, utilizing methodologies like Airflow DAGs.
- Familiarity with AWS technologies including Redshift, Glue Data Catalog, S3, PostgreSQL, Parquet, Iceberg, Trino, and their management facilitated by Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Consideration may be given to candidates with less experience for the Data Engineer role.
