In my role as the Accounting Subspecialty Lead at Canva Philippines, I have been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing the entire accounting team in the country. As a People Manager, I manage the team's performance, provide guidance, and ensure that all accounting processes are carried out efficiently. In addition to this, I also serve as an Advisor to the Philippine Country Manager and Country Leads, providing them with insights and recommendations related to accounting matters, financial controls, and financial efficiency.

As the Finance Shared Service Team Lead, I oversee and ensure that all processes and strategic programs, projects, goals, and milestones are updated and achieved within Accounting and across specialties. I lead and monitor the project and process improvement using Agile and Scrum methodologies, driving the team's continuous process improvements, including automation and maximization of systems. I identify and recommend process improvement, including its documentation, and oversee the Global day-to-day Finance Operation Activities, including but not limited to S2P, Revenue Operation (offline sales), Treasury Operations, and GL Accounting. My main priority is to ensure the quality of the deliverables through constant monitoring of KPIs, develop, implement, and maintain internal financial controls and procedures, evaluate the team’s performance and compensation, and look after the Manila Finance Teams' well-being. I also report monthly team performance to HQ.

I started as an Accounts Payable Supervisor, then was promoted twice in less than a year to Sr. Supervisor and Assistant Finance Manager. As an overseer for Terry S.A. Inc. and Tropical Retail Group of companies, I am responsible for managing the AP, GL, and Treasury & Collection sections. My role involves creating and implementing policies and procedures, analyzing PnL data, and reviewing financial entries, documents, and reports for accuracy and consistency. I ensure compliance with month-end closing procedures and coordinate with other departments and sub-distributors for account reconciliation and timely processing of payables. Additionally, I oversee tax liability filing and payment, internal controls, and compliance with statutory and tax requirements.

I ensure that payment requests are always accurate and comprehensive. I guarantee that all salary payments are received promptly. I take full responsibility for preparing monthly reconciliation reports for client reimbursements, vehicle rental payments, and project employee salaries. In addition, I confidently draft bills, invoices, and email correspondence. I expertly handle everyday financial transactions, such as verifying, classifying, computing, posting, and recording accounts receivable data. I have a keen eye for identifying discrepancies and resolving any billing issues that clients may have. I proactively send out bill reminders and firmly contact clients regarding any outstanding accounts to ensure timely payment of company invoices.

I was responsible for processing weekly expense reports and monthly gasoline expense reports. I ensure that the actual gas consumption matches the monthly gasoline expenses per employee through reconciliation. I also conduct monthly warehouse and quarterly inventory audits on the factory. As an essential part of our operations, we conduct monthly inventory audits on all our company stores situated in Metro Manila. Additionally, we conduct inventory audits on our jewelry workshops. Our team prepares a detailed inventory audit report every month based on the findings. Moreover, we carry out audits on the salaries of our head office-based employees to ensure absolute fairness and accuracy.
