Security Engineer
Description

Company Overview

Eigen Labs is a prominent figure in the blockchain sector, pioneering EigenLayer as a groundbreaking solution that transforms crypto-economic security. Picture a scenario where blockchain projects overcome the challenges of scaling and capital limitations.

We are dedicated to developing a platform that enhances security for innovative distributed applications. Instead of each service relying on separate tokenized trust networks in the blockchain landscape, EigenLayer allows services to leverage the Ethereum trust network's security, ensuring scalability while upholding security and decentralization.

Responsibilities

Seeking a senior infrastructure security engineer to address various security issues, focusing on securing cloud-based systems, conducting architectural reviews and threat models, and managing access controls across different systems. This role entails collaborating closely with engineering and product teams to balance security and business requirements, leading efforts to maintain the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our infrastructure.

Key Duties

  • Create and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards to safeguard our cloud-based and off-chain systems, including third-party integration.
  • Conduct internal security evaluations, audits, and vulnerability testing to identify and address potential risks.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure the security of the entire EigenLayer ecosystem, particularly off-chain systems.
  • Implement automated security features, such as infrastructure-as-code, secure CI pipelines, and systems to detect and address misconfigurations.
  • Develop and update incident response protocols for handling security breaches and incidents effectively.
  • Stay abreast of the latest security trends and practices to continually enhance security measures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in information security, focusing on infrastructure and cloud security.
  • Proven track record in spearheading large-scale security programs within organizations or user communities.
  • Proficiency in architectural reviews, threat modeling, penetration testing, and offensive/defensive security strategies.
  • Hands-on experience securing environments using Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Cloudflare, and similar systems.
  • Experience in establishing secure CI/CD pipelines, with notable expertise in GitHub Actions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate efficiently with diverse teams and partners, including geographically remote members.

Desirable Skills

  • Competence in programming, particularly in Go, or using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
  • Practical security experience within the blockchain industry.
  • Familiarity with secure management of sensitive key material.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual base salary ranges between $225,000 to $250,000, complying with local regulations. Additional rewards may include bonuses, incentives, and program-specific perks. Eigen Labs also offers various employee benefits, such as medical, dental, vision plans, 401k, unlimited paid time off, and 12 weeks of fully paid maternity and paternity leave.

This role allows for remote work. #LI-Remote | #LI-AC1

Description
EigenLabs spearheads the development of EigenLayer, a platform that provides cryptographic security as a service for an array of proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain components, encompassing rollups, bridges, oracles, and decentralized applications (dApps). The current blockchain landscape often requires each service to be fortified by its distinct token, which can present significant challenges due to the complications of bootstrapping new tokens, often resulting in inadequate capital for securing these services.
