I read the exchange log between your station controller (POS) and the fuel dispensers, plus
the DOMS controller log, and tell you what is actually happening on the wire — not
"restart the station".
10 years in petrol-station equipment service. Own parsers for the cbench, DART, Gilbarco,
Iskra, LON, nara, SB, sense, TLS, TOX, Vombat, VDS and date/datepos protocols — I work with
the protocol data itself, not only with its description.
WHAT YOU GET
- The whole log processed, not a sample. 3-4 million lines for one day are read completely.
- A verdict per dispenser and per nozzle: deliveries completed, link losses occurring during
a delivery, line noise (corrupted frames, repeated packets), counter/stage freezes, error
shutdowns.
- Timestamps of every incident, to line up with operator complaints and the cashier journal.
- Native dispenser fault codes from the protocol (EZERO_DELIVERY, EOFFLINE, ESTAGE_FREEZE,
EDOUBT_TOTALIZER, ETABLE_FREEZE, EDLVRY_TM_ABORT and others) — extracted, not paraphrased.
- A ready-to-send escalation text for your dispenser or DOMS vendor.
WHAT I DISTINGUISH (this is where most analyses go wrong)
- poll_no_data / RESET while idle = normal, an idle dispenser has nothing to report.
- recvMesg error, line noise = corrupted frames: cabling, shielding, grounding or supply.
- repeated packet with the same number = retransmission; differs per dispenser address.
- status error on on_stage_run / on_stage_auth_vol / on_stage_stop = LINK LOSS MID-DELIVERY,
the "frozen dispenser" your operators call about.
- Too many errors = the dispenser shut itself down.
- table_freeze_error / stage_freeze_error = frozen totalizers or frozen stage.
TIERS
- Basic, $40: one log up to ~24 h, up to 8 dispensers — analysis, tables, verdicts.
- Standard, $100: above + timestamped incident export + vendor escalation text.
- Project, from $200: multiple logs / DOMS / a week or more — trend analysis and
cabling/line recommendations.
