I am a somehow professional in this field, my approach to remixing is from a composer stand point, It will be more like a new composition oppose to being gener specified (Hose, low fi, techno , etc) with that said, I've done remixes in low-fi and future bass styles while I saw fit, also I did made a traditional guitar song from an EDM song every now and the. either way I hear your desires from you and when I feel it's the right decision I will accept the work.
