Overview
The ideal candidate for the Senior React Engineer position at BitMEX is someone with extensive experience in designing and implementing high-performance real-time web applications. Candidates should have a background in React.JS development and an interest in trading platforms or cryptocurrency exchanges. Additionally, a genuine interest in the cryptocurrency industry, significant React experience, and a commitment to professional growth is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the BitMEX Web Frontend and React Native components
- Independently collaborate across teams to deliver end-user products
- Design and implement new platform features, address issues, and optimize performance
- Collaborate with API and Engine teams to integrate new features and enhance user experiences
- Provide mentorship to other engineers, sharing best practices, design principles, and coding knowledge
- Evaluate and propose new development stack components and architectural concepts
- Conduct regular code reviews
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in JS and understanding of its performance characteristics
- Proficiency in NodeJS, React, and Flux architecture
- Knowledge of Jest, Flow, Webpack, Make, and Sass is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to make complex, data-driven products user-friendly
- Capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Up-to-date awareness of UX trends with a curiosity for new UX concepts
- Prior experience in trading derivatives products, preferably in bitcoin derivatives
- Understanding of Bitcoin's value proposition and open to receiving payment in bitcoin

Design and maintain comprehensive risk frameworks tailored to Web3 systems (protocol, liquidity, counterparty, smart contract).
Monitor and analyze on-chain activity, market volatility, and ecosystem health to identify emerging threats.
Work closely with treasury, quant, and governance teams to ensure risk-adjusted strategies.
Establish and document risk policies and mitigation plans (both operational and token-economic).
Contribute to internal audits, compliance with applicable jurisdictions, and protocol transparency.
Engage with community and DAO contributors to maintain open risk communication
You’re a Great Fit If You
Have 3–5+ years in risk management, quantitative finance, or DeFi / crypto projects.
Know your way around DeFi protocols, liquidity pools, staking, on-chain analytics tools (Dune, Nansen, Arkham, etc.).
Understand tokenomics, smart contract audit principles, and treasury diversification strategies.
Feel at home reading Etherscan, analyzing TVL, and tracking wallet flows.
Communicate clearly, document well, and think both strategically and hands-on.
(Bonus) Have contributed to DAOs or Web3 protocols before — or maybe you’ve been a degen with a spreadsheet.
