Nibiru Chain is seeking a Lead Counsel to join the team. Nibiru Chain is a cutting-edge L1 blockchain and smart contract ecosystem focused on providing high throughput and top-tier security. The company is dedicated to being a user-friendly and developer-friendly smart contract ecosystem, spearheading the push for widespread Web3 adoption through innovation across various layers of the system.
Who You Are:
We are searching for an attorney to serve as the first legal hire for Nibiru Chain. This individual will play a crucial role in supporting the foundation, issuance, and development teams in advancing the growth of Nibiru Chain. The ideal candidate will provide daily support to core teams such as Growth, Marketing, Developer Relations, HR, Finance, and Operations. They will oversee multiple outside counsel relationships and manage various workstreams globally. Strong attention to detail, effective planning, and budget management skills are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Providing comprehensive legal support from start to finish.
- Managing external counsel relationships.
- Serving as a knowledgeable authority on legal, compliance, regulatory, and policy issues.
- Handling corporate governance, partnerships, events, community outreach, grant programs, intellectual property, and procurement-related matters.
- Acting as secretary and ensuring corporate governance compliance.
- Supervising entity formation, including document creation and filings with local and regional authorities.
- Drafting, reviewing, and updating third-party and inter-company agreements.
- Collaborating on managing legal concerns related to employees, consultants, and vendors.
- Staying informed about industry developments and regulations affecting web3, blockchain, and crypto, ensuring compliance and informing company strategies.
- Building industry relationships and representing the brand.
Qualifications:
- At least 8 years of collective experience in top law firms and in-house legal departments within high-growth tech companies.
- Deep understanding of U.S. securities laws such as the Securities Act, Exchange Act, Investment Company Act, and Investment Advisors Act.
- Ability to efficiently handle a high volume of complex work with urgency and minimal oversight.
- Strong interest in blockchain technology, with L1 expertise considered a significant advantage.
- Experience advising all levels of an organization, including senior executives, and managing projects independently and decisively.
- Self-motivated, fast learner, proactive, with a sense of urgency.
- Unquestionable integrity, exceptional business judgment, and the ability to assess and evaluate situations rapidly, even with incomplete information.
- Excellent communicator capable of delivering clear, actionable, and practical guidance.
- Solutions-oriented mindset with strong business acumen.
- J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the U.S., Cayman Islands, or British Virgin Islands.
