Company Overview:

Ex Populus is a game development studio led by experienced professionals from prestigious companies like Pixar, Ubisoft, and Blizzard. The team is currently working on two anticipated games, Final Form and LAMOverse, focusing on high-quality indie games for PC and console platforms.

Location:

This role is remote, supporting a fully distributed team that has occasional in-person meetings leveraging Google Meet.

Status:

This is a full-time, permanent position.

Ex Populus is seeking a talented 3D Artist to join the art team. The ideal candidate should be creative, self-motivated, and have a strong grasp of game development processes, and must showcase wireframe models, textures, and detailed descriptions in their portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Create 3D models of various elements using software like Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max.
  • Apply textures to enhance the realism of 3D models, utilizing texture maps for different surface properties.
  • Unwrap 3D models to create accurate UV maps for texture application.
  • Develop shaders and materials to control lighting and environmental interactions of 3D models.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of design principles for real-world and fictional concepts.
  • Work within technical constraints of game engines and platforms.
  • Maintain fidelity to the game's visual style based on team feedback.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments such as design, programming, and animation teams.

Requirements:

  • Have shipped at least one AAA game on Console or PC within the last 3 years.
  • Provide portfolio links showcasing work.
  • Proficient in modeling, texturing, and optimizing assets in a next-gen pipeline.
  • Mastery of tools like Maya, Substance, and Photoshop.
  • Previous experience working on large-scale 3D titles for PC or console platforms.
  • Strong understanding of asset pipelines and agile development processes.
  • Familiarity with game engines like Unreal and Unity.
  • Knowledge of clean topology modeling techniques and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of art fundamentals including composition and lighting.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Open to feedback and can adapt work based on input.
  • Capable of working within established artistic styles.
