Role Overview:
The primary goal at Ex Populus is to spread joy through top-tier gaming and entertainment experiences worldwide. The studio is dedicated to partnering with emerging elite content creators, providing them with a world-class platform and access to some of the industry's finest talent.
Responsibilities:
- Create photorealistic real-time visual effects within Unity, such as explosions, fire, smoke, and clouds.
- Collaborate with artists and engineers to enhance scenes in the engine, delivering an immersive visual experience.
- Assist in the utilization of 3D art pipeline tools and engine tools by the team.
- Support artists and engineers with asset performance enhancements and validation.
- Review creative processes, identifying areas for tool enhancements.
- Develop efficient 3D art pipeline tools and extensions.
- Resolve technical challenges within the 3D asset pipeline.
- Work closely with engineers and testers to troubleshoot in-game issues.
- Encourage and empower the art team to streamline their workflows.
- Engage with partner studios to exchange technological expertise and best practices.
Requirements:
- Must have shipped at least one AA/AAA game for Console or PC in the past 3 years.
- Proficient in creating realistic and captivating VFX for games, with a mandatory portfolio submission.
- Understanding of in-game VFX performance, optimization, and memory constraints.
- Experience working with Unity (Unreal Engine knowledge is a bonus).
- Familiarity with VFX software like Houdini, 3ds Max, or Maya.
- Knowledge of modeling, shading, and animation workflows.
- Expertise in VFX, Lighting, Scripting, Shaders, VFX Rendering, & Post Processing.
- Solid understanding of Graphic Rendering Pipeline for advanced technologies.
- Proficiency in Source Control systems like Git, Perforce, or Mercurial.
- Strong technical background in art production processes and workflows.
- Programming skills in C++, C#, Python, or Maxscript with a grasp of Data Structures.
- Knowledge of UI Development for Tools like WPF, WinForms, XAML, or QT is beneficial.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience collaborating across disciplines such as art, programming, and technical domains.
- Creative problem-solving abilities and willingness to receive feedback.
- Ability to work within established artistic styles.
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
- Prior experience working in a distributed or remote team setting.
