Role Overview:
The 3D Director holds a pivotal technical role in supervising all facets of 3D asset production. Responsibilities include optimizing visual quality, efficiency, and consistency in collaboration with the Art Director to deliver a compelling visual experience in-game.
As the technical lead, the 3D Director establishes and manages a scalable 3D production pipeline, ensures asset quality, and drives team execution. Task prioritization, decision-making for resource maximization, and fostering strong team communication are key elements of the role to drive project completion.
Responsibilities:
- Oversight of technical aspects in 3D asset production
- Development and maintenance of an efficient 3D production pipeline
- Supervision of character modeling, rigging, and skinning for natural movement
- Management of visual effects performance and motion consistency
- Guidance on environment design for flow and scale
- Collaboration on shader and material creation for quality and optimization
- R&D and technical prototype development for visual implementation
- Technical partnership with the Art Director to actualize the visual vision
- Task prioritization with the Project Manager (PM) for on-time deliveries
- Demonstrate leadership and effective communication to navigate team milestones
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a 3D Director/Art Director within a game team (preferably mid-sized teams)
- In-depth knowledge of 3D production workflows and industry standards
- Strong technical acumen in rigging, shaders, and optimization
- Balancing artistic vision with technical constraints for informed decision-making
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills across teams and functions
- Commitment to schedules and guiding the team toward asset completion
- Focus on automation and team productivity enhancement
- Passion for high-quality work and drive for excellence
- Proficient in Japanese (native level) and English (business level)
