CTO Advisor (Crypto-Native)
We are looking for a CTO Advisor to enhance reliability, establish effective release processes, and develop operational documentation for the team. This role involves crafting requirements, guiding team members, and facilitating incident and release management procedures.
Type: Advisor (contract)
- Time commitment: 10-20 hours/week for 90 days, then reduced to 2-4 hours/month
- Compensation: Equity + equity shares only (no cash)
- Reporting directly to: CEO
- Location: Austin preferred; remote work also considered (US/EU/APAC time zones)
Responsibilities:
- Set up release gates in CI/CD pipelines ensuring quality standards and triggers for rollbacks.
- Implement key SRE practices like defining SLOs and error budget policies.
- Enforce change and exceptions logs with timely post-mortems for Sev-1/2 incidents.
- Collaborate with the Quant team to enhance AI index security.
- Develop clear runbooks and dashboards while mentoring engineering leads.
Scope guardrails:
- No involvement in day-to-day people management or sprint ownership.
- No authority over financial transactions or liquidity policies.
- Not responsible for altering policies related to liquidity or emissions.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
Minimum 4 years of leadership experience in the crypto industry.
Demonstrated expertise in SDLC, DevOps, CI-CD, and SRE methodologies.
Experience in deploying data/ML systems or understanding of MLOps fundamentals.
Strong technical writing skills and ability to collaborate effectively asynchronously.
Preferred qualifications:
Background in smart-contract security or audit practices.
Previous exposure to index/market-data processes or exchange connectivity.
Success Metrics (first 90 days):
- Measurable enhancements in reliability metrics and hygiene practices.
- Full adoption of release gates and runbooks without direct supervision by the advisor.
Collaboration:
- Regular engagement with various teams such as Operating Chair, Quant, $TMAI observers, and Finance & Controls.
