About the Role

As the Head of Design, you will be responsible for providing design direction and setting high standards from the initial stages of ideation to the launch of projects. Collaborating with organizational leaders and cross-functional partners, you and your team will shape the design strategy, prototypes, and solutions.

Your role will involve designing elements across internal projects, monetizable products and services, and creative campaigns. You will report directly to the VP Product and have the opportunity to build a top-notch design team.

What You’ll be Doing

• Provide direction on brand and product design, ensuring high standards for web applications, mobile applications, visual interfaces, and UI/UX design at IOV Labs.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, business, and brand/marketing leads to oversee the design process from conception to launch and scalability.
• Successfully manage and deliver multiple design projects concurrently while building an exceptional design team integrated across functions within IOV Labs.
• Incorporate data and customer insights to create conceptual wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
• Develop a unified design system that enhances the efficiency of our product and open source engineering teams and extends to brand and marketing outputs.
• Work across functions to create integrated project, product, and brand/marketing experiences that drive business outcomes aligned with IOV Labs' vision, mission, and ethos.

What You Bring to the Table

• Extensive experience in all phases of the design process, including user research, copywriting, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing.
• Ability to bring innovative, simple, and intuitive design to a growing industry where user experiences and interfaces tend to be complex and difficult to understand for the average user.
• Passion for translating complex problems into simple, relatable, and engaging solutions.
• Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end product design, from identifying customer needs, pain points, and jobs-to-be-done, to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
• Desire to mentor and lead others in building a successful design function.
• Interest in decentralized applications, as well as the potential of decentralized finance and decentralized identity.
• Proven experience in creative problem-solving within a rapidly evolving environment.
• Leadership experience in a transformative environment.
• Ability to gather and interpret both qualitative and quantitative feedback.
• Effective communication and persuasion skills for design concepts.
• Proficiency in Figma.
• Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is highly advantageous.
