About the Role
Engineering lies at the core of Figure's operations, crafting and delivering exceptional products and experiences for customers. Utilizing lending originations, servicing, and blockchain infrastructures, engineers at Figure contribute to direct-to-consumer and business-to-business product lines. The nature of the work involving truly disruptive products presents an exciting aspect of engineering roles at Figure, with every engineer playing a crucial role in the team's success and the company's growth. The FTS lending engineering team is looking to expand through the addition of a collaborative Director of Frontend (UI and UX) engineering, responsible for cultivating a user-centric design and development culture within the frontend software engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish a welcoming, inclusive, collaborative team dedicated to creating user-friendly experiences and robust frontend solutions.
- Lead, guide, and mentor talent at various career stages in their professional growth.
- Cultivate a culture of user-focused design, ensuring exceptional user experiences across Figure's product offerings.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and Design teams to prioritize and deliver new products, features, enhancements, and fixes aligned with company and department goals.
Key Requirements
- Positive team player adaptable to a fast-paced start-up to scale-up environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred.
- 15+ years of relevant software engineering experience in an agile environment, including 5+ years as a UI/UX developer and 5+ years leading frontend engineering teams.
- Strong enthusiasm for Human-Computer Interaction and user-centric design, with additional HCI or related field experience being a plus.
- Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and best practices, with a deep understanding of design, usability, and research.
- Proven ability to craft intuitive and responsive user interfaces that enhance user experience, using expertise in frontend technologies.
- Proficiency in collaborating with designers to create visually appealing interfaces.
- Experience implementing AB testing strategies and data-driven decision-making.
- Track record in developing mobile-first accessible application designs.
- Familiarity with frameworks for shared frontend technologies and internal tool development to optimize user efficiency.
Preferred Tech Stack
- Proficiency in technologies such as React, React Query, Typescript/JavaScript, Tailwind, and Vite.
- Bonus to have experience with backend technologies like Kotlin, SpringBoot, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Google Cloud Platform, and Kubernetes.
