About the Role:
The role of the Director of UX Design at Figure involves shaping the future of finance by redefining lending products and financial experiences. Working closely with Product, Design, Marketing, and Engineering teams, the Director will translate user requirements into compelling experiences by seamlessly blending intuitive design and cutting-edge technology to create experiences that resonate with users. By leveraging technical expertise and creative skills, the Director will assess, measure, and track the quality of user journeys to drive Figure towards unparalleled excellence in user experience.
Responsibilities:
- Cultivate a welcoming, inclusive, collaborative, and supportive team focused on delivering exceptional user experiences, interfaces, and effective solutions for the entire FTS ecosystem.
- Lead, guide, and mentor talent at various career stages, from newcomers to experienced professionals, in their professional growth.
- Instill a culture of design centered around users with a strong focus on enhancing the overall user experience across FTS products.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Design leadership on multiple projects to prioritize and deliver outstanding user experiences and features to FTS's user base.
- Implement AB testing strategies and make data-driven decisions.
- Conduct user research, such as usability testing, interviews, and surveys, to gain insights into user behavior and preferences.
- Drive the design process to envision, iterate, and implement user-friendly experiences that align with business goals and user needs.
- Develop wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to communicate design concepts and collect feedback from stakeholders and users.
- Refine designs based on feedback, results from usability testing, and data analysis to consistently enhance the user experience.
- Ensure coherence, consistency, and reusability across Figure's product range through the establishment and upkeep of design guidelines, standards, and components.
- Collaborate closely with designers and developers to ensure accurate and efficient implementation of designs.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UX design and fintech.
- Advocate for the user throughout the product development cycle and promote a user-centric mindset within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's and/or advanced degree in Design, Fine Arts, or related field.
- Keen interest in Human-Computer Interaction and user-centric design and engineering. Advanced degree in HCI or a related discipline is a plus.
- Over 15 years of relevant design and/or product experience in a fast-paced, agile environment, with a minimum of 5 years leading user experience and design teams.
- Experience in the fintech or financial services sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Profound familiarity with user-centered design principles and methodologies, usability standards, and research best practices. Experience in developing UI and UX strategies for various products, types, and end-users.
- Demonstrated expertise in Mobile-first accessible application design.
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools like Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar.
- Strong advocacy for Design Systems and shared themeable component libraries.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively convey and present design concepts and ideas.
- Experience in analyzing user feedback and analytics to refine designs and enhance user experiences.
- A dynamic leader and collaborator with a positive outlook and the ability to excel in a fast-paced startup or scale-up environment with autonomy and adaptability to evolving priorities.

For residents of CO, NY, CA, and WA, the salary range is between $184,800 - $231,000 with up to a 25% Bonus and Equity. Actual compensation may vary depending on individual candidate experience and location.
