About the Role
The General Counsel at Figure Technology Solutions and its associated entities will oversee all legal affairs and regulatory compliance matters while guiding the company towards its anticipated IPO. This executive position carries significant influence over key strategic decisions, encompassing finance, regulatory adherence, and expansion of product offerings. Collaboration with various stakeholders is central to the General Counsel's responsibilities in advancing the company's core HELOC product and broader product range.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a legal team offering guidance to lending product and operational units involved in direct and white-label loan origins.
- Collaborate across corporate, commercial, capital markets, product, regulatory, and compliance divisions to achieve organizational objectives through cross-functional teamwork.
- Prepare internal legal procedures for an IPO and establish post-IPO securities compliance and governance protocols.
- Keep the company abreast of evolving regulatory frameworks in technology and financial services.
- Provide senior-level input for regulatory reviews, external audits, and examinations by third parties.
- Work closely across functions to understand diverse processes and the impact of policies on business operations.
- Act as Corporate Secretary to the Board of Directors, ensuring sound corporate governance practices and serving as a governance advisor to the Board and executive team.
Requirements
- 15+ years of legal experience, ideally spanning both law firms and mortgage lending companies or government agencies.
- J.D. and active membership in at least one state bar.
- Proficiency in project management, facilitating interdepartmental collaboration effectively.
- Strong entrepreneurial spirit, work ethic, and hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- In-depth knowledge and application of key consumer finance laws and regulations.
- Track record of shepherding projects from conception to completion.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with meticulous attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication skills for conveying plans, policies, and issues to stakeholders.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced startup setting, preferably with public company exposure.

The salary range for residents in specific states is $368,000 - $417,000 per year (plus Bonus and Equity). Actual compensation may vary based on individual experience and location.
