** Material Artist at Seedworld**

We are looking for a skilled Material/Shader Artist with experience in creating and optimizing shaders for assets and landscapes using Unreal and related artist software for Seedworld, a prominent Metaverse project on Unreal 5.2+.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Art Department team to develop shaders for assets and landscapes, ensuring they align with the artistic style of Seedworld.
  • Create shaders and procedural textures based on reference artwork and under the guidance of the Art Director.
  • Develop quality shaders for human characters and fantasy elements, meeting the expectations of the Art Director.
  • Optimize shaders for memory and frame rate budgets.
  • Work closely with Art Directors, Technical Artists, and Developers to streamline pipeline efficiency.
  • Research and implement new shader development techniques, creating custom nodes or functions as needed.
  • Engage in technical and artistic discussions, contributing to problem-solving efforts.
  • Document and summarize work for effective communication within the team.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of shader development experience in the gaming industry with at least one AAA game shipped on PC or console within the past 5 years.
  • 5+ years of experience with Maya, Photoshop, ZBrush, Mudbox, or similar tools.
  • 5+ years of shader development for Unreal across all shading tools, with additional development experience as a bonus.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in developing and compiling shaders within Unreal.
  • Strong understanding of shading, texturing, and look development.
  • Artistic eye to complement technical skills and work effectively with Art Directors.
  • Experience with advanced shaders such as Water, SSS, Foliage, etc.
  • Knowledge of OpenGL GLSL/HLSL is a plus.

Bonus Skills:

  • Proficiency in developing shaders in ShaderFX for Maya.
  • Scripting knowledge (Python, Mel, C++, Blueprint) is useful.
  • Experience with FX shaders.
