The Role:

Codex is searching for a skilled protocol engineer to join their team of engineers and researchers in transforming decentralized storage. This cutting-edge solution integrates Zero Knowledge proofs, erasure coding techniques, peer-to-peer networks, and blockchain technologies to provide unmatched data durability and censorship resistance.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate within the p2p client team to develop, test, and maintain networking protocols.
  • Identify and troubleshoot correctness, performance, and security bugs, along with creating custom tools when needed.
  • Contribute to the development of a comprehensive testing approach, define workloads and network models, and implement them in the testbed.
  • Develop new protocols or modify existing ones to meet evolving product requirements.
  • Drive quality, enhance testability, and promote a culture of engineering excellence within the team.

Requirements:

  • Deep expertise in decentralized and peer-to-peer systems, preferably backed by a PhD or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong interest in open source, potentially demonstrated through significant contributions.
  • Proficiency in statically typed system programming languages like Rust, C/C++, Go, and an eagerness to work with an emerging programming language like Nim.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration in a fully remote and asynchronous team setting.
  • Willingness to address complex problems publicly through presentations, blog posts, or academic papers and articulate solutions clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the capability to tirelessly debug challenging issues.

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous exposure to decentralized storage networks or familiarity with the domain.
  • Ability to engage with networking protocols from simulation/formal verification to implementation.
  • Knowledge of compact and Zero-Knowledge proofs and their mechanisms.

Hiring Process:

  1. Initial discussion with the People Ops team.
  2. Interview with Codex team member.
  3. Completion of a paid task.
  4. Follow-up interview with Codex team member.
  5. Final interview with the Project Lead.
