Description

We are in need of an experienced Texture Artist to join our team and contribute to an exciting Metaverse project called Seedworld on Unreal 5.2+.

As a Texture Artist, your role involves utilizing your proficiency in 3D model creation tools such as Maya and Zbrush, as well as texture creation software like Substance Painter, Designer, and Photoshop, to develop stylized textures for characters, assets, and landscapes within Seedworld.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Art Department to craft textures for assets and landscapes during the crucial look development phase.
  • Ensure that the development of textures aligns with the artistic style of Seedworld, utilizing reference artwork and following guidance from the Art Director.
  • Engage with the Art Director, Technical Artists, Team Leads, and team members to grasp technical requirements and enhance the efficiency of the pipeline.
  • Conduct research on procedural texture development techniques and implement them in production.
  • Create smart materials or functions as necessitated by R&D.
  • Actively participate in technical and artistic discussions and contribute to problem-solving initiatives.
  • Summarize work and documentation to facilitate effective internal and outsourcing communication across the team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in both hand-painted and procedural texturing within the gaming industry, with at least one AAA game shipped on PC or console in the past 5 years.
  • Proficiency with Substance software or equivalent tools, with over 5 years of experience.
  • Strong visual and technical understanding of texturing and look development.
  • Knowledge of procedural texture creation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of 3D prerequisites before the shader (UV, Bake, Texture Layout), and familiarity with common texturing pipelines.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A keen artistic eye to complement technical expertise and facilitate collaboration with the Art Director.
  • Ability to work quickly, maintain organization, collaborate effectively, and accept feedback gracefully.
  • Fluent English language skills, along with a comprehension of production values, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Experience in shader development within Unreal would be advantageous.

Bonus Skills:

  • Proficiency in developing shaders in Unreal.
