Senior Data Engineer
The incumbent must work full-time onsite in our Toronto office to foster collaborative team dynamics and innovative problem-solving.
We are on the lookout for a proficient Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team and aid in constructing, scaling, and optimizing our data platform, reporting infrastructure, and data-driven products.
The ideal candidate possesses a solid background in both software engineering—developing and scaling applications that bolster our product suite—and data engineering—crafting and implementing resilient data infrastructure to move and transform data efficiently.

Responsibilities include developing and sustaining the platform that allows data accessibility and actionability for other engineering and product teams to seamlessly integrate data into their products. Collaboration with skilled engineers, analysts, data scientists, product managers, and security experts in various domains will provide exposure to all facets of our business.

Responsibilities:
- Design, construct, and uphold scalable, reliable data pipelines for data collection, transformation, and curation from internal systems.
- Integrate specific external data sources to enrich the data platform.
- Create applications that support customer-facing products and internal systems.
- Enhance and broaden BitGo’s blockchain reporting infrastructure and automated reconciliation systems.
- Ensure high data quality and auditability throughout all pipelines.
- Optimize data systems for near real-time processing and insights.
- Develop and personalize self-service tools, empowering data consumers to efficiently extract and analyze data from BitGo’s extensive data platform.
- Research, evaluate, and prototype new technologies for continuous enhancement in data engineering.

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience (Data Engineer, Software Engineer, DevOps/Infrastructure Engineer, etc.).
- Proficiency in server-side languages like TypeScript/Node.JS/Python.
- Proficient in SQL databases like Postgres or MySQL.
- Strong grasp of RESTful API design.
- Experience in building data pipelines/ETL and familiarity with design principles.
- Familiarity with data warehouse technologies and relevant data modeling best practices (Snowflake, BigQuery, Spark, Presto, Druid, etc.).
- Proficiency in systems design and event-driven systems (Kafka).
- Self-starting abilities with adaptability and decisiveness.
- Experience in unit and functional testing, as well as debugging.
- Proficiency in microservices and service-oriented architectures.
- Proficiency in Git/GitHub and code review tools, CI tools, JIRA, Confluence, etc.
- Capability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to partake in on-call rotations for system support.
- Proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in Financial Services and/or Financial Technology.
- Strong interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain industry.
- Experience with large-scale, real-time, and distributed applications.
- Familiarity with data governance, handling PII, data masking.

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on leveling and location, the compensation for this role averages between $180,000 - $240,000 CAD base salary. Equity and an annual performance bonus are also included in this role's package.
