Senior Java Developer (Trading Platform)

The team responsible for Trading Infrastructure is developing a cutting-edge Trading Platform that facilitates multi-asset trading with a focus on high performance. This platform is specifically engineered to manage financial instruments efficiently with low-latency execution, robust risk controls, and seamless integration across trading, risk, operations, and finance workflows.

The platform's architecture is modular, encompassing key components such as market data feeds, order gateways, execution algorithms, risk engines, UI dashboards, middle office reconciliation, and account infrastructure. The design principles revolve around event-driven, deterministic system architecture, real-time observability, and robust security measures.

The technology stack utilized includes Java for low-latency operations, Python, Web UI technologies like React/Ag-Grid, Aeron, ClickHouse, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD tools. Emphasis is placed on automation, scalability, and high performance, with the integration of AI-assisted development tools to enhance productivity and code quality team-wide.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop core backend systems for market connectivity, order routing, execution engines, risk management, and position tracking.
• Implement ultra-low-latency and GC-free components utilizing best practices in lock-free and off-heap programming techniques.
• Apply event-driven and fully deterministic design principles to ensure traceable and predictable system behavior.
• Liaise with product and trading teams to transform requirements into high-performing, production-ready solutions.
• Engage in performance profiling, JVM tuning, and troubleshooting complex issues in production environments.
• Establish and maintain automated test suites and CI/CD pipelines.
• Contribute to code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical audits to maintain high standards throughout the codebase.
• Utilize AI-driven coding tools to accelerate development and enhance productivity where applicable.

Requirements

• Over 5 years of Java backend development experience, preferably in trading or real-time system contexts.
• Proficiency in Java core internals, multithreading, memory models, and garbage collection concepts.
• Demonstrable expertise in GC-free or low-GC programming, incorporating techniques such as sun.misc.Unsafe, direct buffers, and memory-mapped files.
• Familiarity with low-latency messaging libraries like Aeron and SBE.
• Strong grasp of event-driven architecture and experience in designing fully deterministic systems.
• Sound knowledge of time-series and analytical databases such as ClickHouse, with exposure to kdb+ or InfluxDB desirable.
• Experience with distributed systems, message queues, and performance optimization at both network and application layers.
• Comfortable with using AI-powered development tools to promote code quality and speed up development.
• Proficient in testing practices including TDD, benchmarking, and resilience testing.
