Staff Systems Engineer – Low Latency & Networking
Jito Labs is pioneering the development of high-performance distributed systems on Solana, aiming to optimize system performance and reliability. As the creators of Jito-Solana and the Jito Block Engine, we have contributed significantly to the Solana ecosystem by generating substantial rewards for validators and stakers.
Our latest offering, BAM, is revolutionizing Solana market structures and transaction supply chains with a focus on performance, reliability, and transaction privacy. We are dedicated to creating systems that push the limits of modern hardware and network capabilities.
We are seeking a senior engineer with expertise spanning application code, operating systems, hardware behavior, and network protocols. The ideal candidate enjoys troubleshooting complex issues across the entire technology stack and possesses a deep understanding of system internals.
This role involves working on low-latency infrastructure where microseconds can make a difference and identifying root causes can be challenging. Candidates should be adept at navigating between application code, kernel internals, hardware behavior, and network protocols to tackle diverse technical problems effectively.
Required Skills:
- Extensive experience in systems programming, networking, or performance-critical infrastructure, with a minimum of 10 years in the field.
- Profound knowledge of Linux systems, including kernel behavior, networking internals, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in packet analysis and network debugging tools.
- Hands-on experience with performance profiling and tracing tools such as perf, eBPF, and flamegraphs.
- Strong programming fundamentals, prioritizing depth over specific languages.
- Proven track record of resolving complex issues spanning applications, operating systems, and hardware layers.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in domains where latency and performance are critical, such as high-frequency trading or real-time systems.
- Expertise in developing custom memory allocators or optimizing memory subsystems.
- Familiarity with virtualization internals and passthrough networking, e.g., SR-IOV, vDPA.
- Knowledge of kernel-adjacent work like eBPF programs, driver debugging, or custom modules.
- Previous involvement in Solana or blockchain infrastructure projects.
Salary Range: $220,000 - $275,000 annually (compensation based on experience)
Perks:
- Competitive total compensation package and equity options.
- Comprehensive employer-paid health benefits.
- Fully-covered expenses for team retreats and conferences.
