About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Technical Artist to spearhead the optimization of the artistic pipeline in our upcoming game. As a Lead Technical Artist, your role is to leverage your profound skills in gaming and interactive design to lead a team in crafting a gaming experience that pioneers Blockchain technology in the gaming realm.

This unique role offers an opportunity for a highly inquisitive and hardworking individual to contribute to the establishment of cutting-edge best practices in blockchain technology within our organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and advocate processes, pipelines, and best practices for 2D/3D art content, including tools and automation.
  • Collaborate with art and engineering teams to define and implement effective solutions for delivering high-quality, high-performance gaming experiences.
  • Establish tools and pipelines for artists to efficiently implement their artwork in-game.
  • Work with art and engineering teams to enforce performance budgets and validate art assets in the game.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline issues and collaborate with the development team to resolve core problems.
  • Mentor a team of technical artists in building an efficient toolchain for art pipeline management.
  • Identify opportunities for incorporating new technologies to enhance art workflow efficiencies.
  • Act as a liaison between art and engineering teams, advocating for the department's needs.
  • Research and explore various graphics systems and middleware packages.

Requirements

  • Strong passion for iterative design and fostering a peer-to-peer culture.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating tools to expedite artists' workflow.
  • Minimum of 3 years of production experience in games or related industries.
  • At least 2 years of technical art experience in Unity, Unreal, or similar engines.
  • Experience managing technical art teams of 3 or more individuals.
  • Shipped at least one AAA or large-scale mobile game.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills bridging art and engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in industry-level DCC applications like Maya, Max, Blender, or Modo.
  • Expertise in optimizing art assets for memory and performance.
  • Proficient in Python/C# or similar languages for pipeline development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various art disciplines including animations, environments, VFX, and rendering.

Qualifications

  • Expansive interest in real-time rendering technologies and asset creation tools.
  • Experience in managing real-time rendering and optimization processes.
  • Background in scheduling and scoping technical work.
  • Knowledge of procedurally created or generated content.
  • Experience with cinematic, cut-scenes, or high-quality rendering pipelines.
