At Merkle Science, we are in search of a skilled and enthusiastic Crypto Investigator to join our team of professionals committed to combating financial crimes and illegal activities within the cryptocurrency realm. In this role, you will be pivotal in recognizing, examining, and tracing suspicious transactions, patterns, and behaviors on diverse blockchain networks. Your insights will be instrumental in supporting clients, law enforcement agencies, and internal teams in making informed decisions to uphold the integrity of the digital asset ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate intricate cases related to phishing, blockchain exploits, hacking, terrorism financing, money laundering, and other illicit activities involving blockchain technology.
- Collaborate with diverse teams to create actionable intelligence reports that aid clients in compliance efforts and assist in law enforcement investigations. -Engage in extensive research on blockchain-related crimes, converting findings into valuable intelligence.
- Analyze large datasets to uncover hidden trends, relationships, and irregularities within the cryptocurrency landscape.
- Assist in enhancing internal attribution and datasets and foster relationships with industry partners to introduce new attribution sources.
- Support ongoing investigations and promote information sharing with external stakeholders like law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in cybercrime analysis within a U.S. federal agency.
- Sound knowledge of blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, and various blockchain networks.
- Experience in financial investigations, preferably in the cryptocurrency or financial sector.
- Proficiency in utilizing blockchain analytics tools for transaction analysis.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities to interpret complex data and derive meaningful insights.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey findings and recommendations.

- 3-5 years of combined experience as an investigator or analyst.
