Role:

As a manager within the Infrastructure department at Alchemy, you will oversee a team of Infrastructure Engineers working closely with our engineering team to develop, deploy, and enhance the infrastructure underpinning our internationally utilized developer platform. Leading both technically and culturally, your primary objective will be to cultivate and steer a team of accomplished infrastructure engineers to elevate developer efficiency and maintain product reliability as we scale our operations.

The Infrastructure team's principal goal is to furnish the necessary infrastructure, tools, and expertise to empower Alchemy engineers to deliver, expand, and uphold top-tier products for our clientele in an efficient, secure, and cost-effective manner. Join us in expanding and growing the team responsible for the infrastructure vital for creating products that satisfy customers in terms of dependability, performance, and affordability.

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize the productivity of developers and the reliability of products
  • Collaborate with tech leads to define and execute an engineering roadmap for Alchemy's services and products
  • Spearhead the execution of long-term projects augmenting technical capabilities in our computing ecosystem
  • Enhance critical infrastructure and production systems for scalable operations, encompassing aspects like compute, networking, deployment, observability, and code tooling
  • Establish and oversee best practices for managing production infrastructure and developer processes
  • Provide insights into long-term infrastructure requirements and operational standards
  • Uphold engineering excellence by implementing coding, testing, and deployment best practices
  • Recruit a high-caliber team with a primary focus on senior engineers

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years as an Infrastructure/Backend Engineer with prior experience as a Manager of a 4+ engineer team
  • Proficiency in designing and managing large-scale, multi-region production systems and Kubernetes clusters
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools and working with cloud infrastructures like AWS
  • Experience in building deployment pipelines utilizing CI/CD tools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Preferred background includes exposure to running services on bare-metal, vendor management, and expertise in lower infra stack operations
  • Well-versed in web applications and architecture, ideally with early-stage startup involvement

Additional Information:

Alchemy offers competitive compensation, including base salary and equity, alongside medical, dental, vision coverage, 401k option, and unlimited flexible time off. The salary range for this position falls between $135,000 to $350,000 annually, variable based on pertinent factors like experience, qualifications, skill set, and other business requirements.
