Job Overview

We are on the lookout for an experienced Head of Regulatory Affairs to join our team at Merkle Science. This key role will focus on guaranteeing that our operations and offerings comply with relevant regulatory standards worldwide. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cryptocurrency and blockchain regulations and will collaborate closely with both internal and external stakeholders to navigate changing regulatory landscapes.

Candidates who are based in or near D.C. or New York or those in the EST time zone willing to travel to these locations regularly are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute regulatory strategies to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements on a global scale.
• Monitor and evaluate regulatory changes concerning blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.
• Advise senior management on potential regulatory risks and opportunities.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with regulatory bodies and industry entities.
• Work alongside product, legal, and engineering teams to embed compliance standards into product and service development.
• Prepare and submit necessary regulatory filings and reports.
• Lead internal and external audits as well as regulatory inspections.
• Conduct regulatory risk evaluations and establish mitigation approaches.
• Train employees on regulatory best practices and requirements.
• Represent Merkle Science in pertinent regulatory events and forums.

Qualifications

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, or similar field. An advanced degree such as a JD or MBA is preferred.
• Possess at least 7-10 years of experience in regulatory affairs or compliance within financial services, fintech, or blockchain industries.
• Profound knowledge of global regulatory frameworks associated with cryptocurrencies and blockchain.
• Previous successful navigation of intricate regulatory environments.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Exceptional communication skills to engage effectively with regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience interfacing with regulatory bodies and industry associations is advantageous.
• Uphold high ethical standards and exhibit integrity and transparency.
