Member of Financial Systems and Data Analytics
At Anchorage Digital, we are in the process of constructing an advanced digital asset platform that allows institutions to actively participate in the crypto market. Our company, which began in 2017, is a regulated crypto platform providing integrated financial services and infrastructure solutions to institutions. With the launch of the first federally chartered crypto bank in the United States, Anchorage Digital offers institutions a unique combination of secure custody, regulatory compliance, extensive product offerings, and exceptional client service. We are looking to expand our team with individuals who possess humility, creativity, and a strong desire to learn.
We have a globally distributed team that embraces remote work, but we do give individuals the option to work in one of our physical offices in New York City, Sioux Falls, Porto, Lisbon, or Singapore. For those team members who aren't located near our offices, we encourage collaboration by sponsoring quarterly in-person collaboration days, allowing everyone to collaborate together and strengthen our community.
We are seeking a Member of Financial Systems and Data Analytics who will work collaboratively across various departments to design, implement, and maintain systems that address financial data analytics and process automation needs. This role includes responsibilities such as developing internal tools, integrating third-party tools, resolving data quality problems, implementing data analytics and reporting solutions, and supporting financial reporting and analysis activities. As part of our continuous efforts to enhance our accounting environment, accommodate our company's growth, and prepare for a successful IPO, this role will work closely with other teams like accounting, FP&A, and HR to automate processes and improve our control environment. This position requires adaptability due to the broad range of data analytics projects and governance responsibilities that the role encompasses. Additionally, this role offers the opportunity to engage with key stakeholders from Engineering, Data Platform, and Data Governance teams on various data management initiatives and drive ad-hoc data analytics projects to support business strategy and financial analysis.
To succeed in this role, you should have technical skills in utilizing data query tools like SQL and Python to assist the business in making data-driven decisions. You will also need the ability to build business intelligence solutions and data visualizations using platforms such as Looker, Power BI, or Tableau. In addition, knowledge of database design, data schemas, and data extraction is vital. This role involves handling complex tasks related to accounting reporting and reconciliations, such as automating solutions, understanding financial data schemas, and building scalable automation solutions using SQL, Looker, and other tools. You will be responsible for ensuring data accuracy and integrity by conducting regular audits, reconciliations, and data validation checks. Supporting the implementation and maintenance of financial systems to ensure data integration and alignment with standards will also be expected. Moreover, the role includes ad-hoc analytical projects that provide insights and recommendations to management regarding business strategy and financial performance.
In terms of organizational knowledge, familiarity with the strategy of Anchorage Digital and deep understanding of its various business lines are essential. Engaging with different groups to comprehend historical transactions and future global strategy is an active part of this role.
Communication skills are vital for this position, as you will be required to clearly and credibly communicate complex issues to diverse audiences. You will regularly update colleagues, managers, and team leads on your progress and proactively share any information that may impact them. Being a team player and actively participating in team activities is highly valued, as is building productive internal and external relationships.
The ideal candidate possesses a bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. Advanced proficiency in data query tools like SQL, Python, or similar is required, as well as expertise in business intelligence and data visualization applications such as Looker, Power BI, or Tableau. Experience with database design, complex data schemas, and data extraction is a plus, along with solid knowledge of financial and accounting concepts. Familiarity with accounting systems, such as Netsuite, SAP, or Oracle, is beneficial. Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate complex information into actionable steps, are highly valued.
While not mandatory, it would be advantageous if you have kept up to date with the latest blockchain and crypto innovations. Bonus points if you were emotionally moved by the soundtrack to Hamilton, which chronicles the founding of a new financial system.
