As a member of the Internal Systems Engineering team, your primary objective will be to significantly enhance our operational efficiency. You will be at the forefront, enhancing existing back-office systems to streamline manual tasks and unify disparate systems seamlessly. This role necessitates a versatile and comprehensive technical skill set as you will be responsible for creating new backend services, integrating and expanding existing backend and frontend services. Your role will have a considerable impact as you collaborate directly with our Global Operations teams to pinpoint critical pain points, prioritize projects, translate operational requirements into technical specifications, and ultimately conceptualize, develop, and implement solutions that empower our entire organization.
We have devised the "Factors of Growth & Impact" framework to enable team members to measure impact effectively, provide coaching and feedback, and document learning experiences gained through exploring, developing, and mastering various capabilities within and beyond the Corporate Engineering role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and navigate diverse existing codebases within internal systems quickly.
- Develop robust, high-quality, and well-tested solutions spanning multiple backend and frontend services.
- Contribute to the establishment of secure, robust internal infrastructure from scratch and ensure its continuous optimization.
- Engage actively in code reviews for changes that impact multiple teams, instilling an efficient testing culture to minimize technical debt within our internal systems.
- Solve intricate software design challenges to optimize internal operations effectively.

- Break down large, cross-functional internal projects into manageable tasks, providing accurate estimates on collaborative efforts.
- Deliver code and solutions that directly enhance the efficiency and productivity of the global operations teams on a daily basis.

- Swiftly transition between and contribute to a diverse array of internal systems and operational workflows supporting various business functions.
- Collaborate closely and cross-functionally with Global Operations and other internal stakeholders to grasp crucial needs and align on appropriate solutions.

Communication and Influence:
- Influence the technical direction and roadmap for internal systems to ensure technology aligns with operational requirements.
- Serve as a mentor and guide to other engineers, sharing expertise on navigating diverse internal codebases and understanding strategic operational objectives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in developing and enhancing complex internal software systems.
- Proficient in designing, building, and deploying cloud-native microservices.
- Demonstrate a passion for developing automated tests alongside software features.
- Hands-on involvement in building complex distributed systems.
- Enjoy creating services from inception and supporting them over the long term.
- Exhibit a genuine interest in code quality and infrastructure.
- Prioritize end-user experience and business value over the adoption of new technologies.
- Possess strong computer science fundamentals without the need for a formal degree in the field.
- Reflect a mix of qualities such as creativity, humility, ambition, attention to detail, hard work, trustworthiness, eagerness to learn, methodical approach, action-oriented mindset, and tenacity.
Preferred Skills:
- Professional experience in Python or Go would be advantageous.
- Previous exposure to Kubernetes technology.
- Knowledge in system security elements like authentication, authorization, identity, and API keys.
- Background in the finance industry.
- Personal appreciation for musical works like "Hamilton," which narrates the establishment of a new financial system.
