Product Designer (Derivatives)
About Our Mission:
We are developing an innovative platform that connects traditional finance with cryptocurrency and are in search of a versatile Product Designer capable of creating outstanding digital experiences for both web and mobile platforms.
Role Overview:
We are looking for a Product Designer with 6-8 years of experience who will play a critical role in designing, expanding, and enhancing our product ecosystem. This position does not focus on a specific product line but requires a designer with a strong understanding of product development across financial technology sectors, particularly derivatives and event contracts. The ideal candidate will craft intuitive trading experiences that empower users to confidently navigate complex financial instruments.
This role is not suitable for those with a casual interest in cryptocurrency. We seek a designer immersed in the industry, able to communicate the intricacies of market cycles, and comprehend how traders make decisions in volatile settings. You should be adept at discussing both high-level theoretical concepts and demonstrating the ability to evaluate projects, narratives, and the broader financial context effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take on a role beyond just designing visuals. We are seeking a design partner who views every interface as a complex puzzle waiting for an elegant solution. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the complete design process for derivatives and event contract products, from research and ideation to producing high-fidelity UI designs.
- Collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and quantitative analysts to transform market requirements into user-friendly and efficient trading interfaces.
- Deconstructing complex financial product challenges and reimagining them into seamless user experiences.
- Challenging existing design conventions with insightful inquiries that reveal deeper user needs.
- Navigating the intricate space between traditional finance and emerging crypto platforms, simplifying complexity into clarity.
- Conducting user research with active traders to enhance product experiences and improve usability.
- Iterating quickly based on feedback and data insights to continuously enhance our trading platform.
Specific Skills Required:
- Domain Knowledge
- Advanced understanding of derivatives trading, such as options, futures, swaps, and structured financial products.
- Solid grasp of market mechanisms, trading strategies, and the requirements of active traders.
- Familiarity with decentralized finance (DeFi) and crypto-based derivatives platforms.
- Experience in designing interfaces that handle real-time data, including order books, charting tools, and risk management dashboards.
- Awareness of key regulatory considerations impacting derivatives markets and influencing user experience.
- Design
- Demonstrated expertise in the end-to-end product design process, from user research and wireframing to high-fidelity prototypes and design systems.
- Proficient in using Figma for interface design, prototyping, and maintaining design systems.
- Extensive experience in responsive web design principles and mobile-first approaches.
- Ability to create and maintain comprehensive design systems and component libraries.
- Proficiency in designing data-heavy interfaces and complex financial workflows.
- Research
- Experience in conducting user research, usability testing, and translating findings into actionable design enhancements.
- Analytical skills to interpret qualitative and quantitative data in shaping design decisions.
- Familiarity with user testing tools like UserTesting, Maze, or similar platforms.
- Expertise in A/B testing methodologies and analyzing test results.
Ideal Candidate
- You are someone who:
- Explores "why" it matters, beyond just "how" something should be designed.
- Approaches understanding user behavior with a detailed and curious mindset.
- Holds profound knowledge of derivatives and structured financial products, including options, futures, and swaps, as well as their applications in trading strategies.
- Has practical trading experience and understands the needs of traders to make informed choices.
- Views ambiguity as an opportunity for deeper comprehension.
- Cultivates relationships with the same level of meticulous care as applied to your design work.
Your intellectual toolkit transcends technical skills
- Proficient in strategic questioning methods, unraveling complex problems through thoughtful inquiry.
- Comfortable challenging assumptions, including your own.
- Skilled at fostering alignment through collaborative exploration, not dictation.
- Motivated by a genuine passion for solving substantial problems, rather than just completing tasks.
- Your portfolio not only exhibits designs but narrates a story of methodical problem-solving, transforming user challenges into moments of unexpected delight.
