Your Role:

Working under the guidance of the Assistant General Counsel, Product and Regulatory, you will assume the crucial position of Senior Counsel overseeing legal aspects for the Circle Account and various digital asset products. You will collaborate with forward-thinking product teams leveraging crypto assets and blockchain technology to create new financial solutions for businesses. Additionally, you will help in shaping and executing regulatory strategies amidst the changing regulatory landscape for stablecoins and other digital assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive legal guidance throughout the lifecycle of Circle Account and digital asset products, including innovative blockchain products related to stablecoins, NFTs, and decentralized finance.
  • Offer advice on compliance with US and global laws concerning digital assets and virtual asset service providers, especially with regards to international expansion and licensing.
  • Aid the Legal team in enhancing effectiveness by developing and implementing processes, procedures, and metrics.
  • Address legal risks in a business-oriented manner, establish problem-solving processes, strengthen partnerships, and explore opportunities.
  • Stay updated on pertinent developments in the crypto and digital currency space to ensure thorough coverage of the product area.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree and active law license in at least one state in good standing.
  • Over 5 years of experience as in-house counsel advising product teams or leading regulatory coverage, preferably in the fintech or institutional financial services sectors.
  • Strong passion for financial technology and demonstrated experience in cryptocurrency or blockchain matters.
  • Familiarity with global AML/CFT regulatory landscape for digital assets.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, possess a sense of humor, enjoy learning, and mentoring.
  • Past involvement in regulated environments or with governmental entities.
  • Capacity to quickly learn and support new business and technology domains.
