Primary Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, Product and Regulatory, the Senior Counsel is tasked with spearheading legal coverage for the Circle Account and an array of digital asset products. This role involves collaborating with dynamic product teams leveraging crypto assets and blockchain technology to advance innovative financial solutions for businesses. Additionally, formulating and executing regulatory strategies in response to the evolving landscape surrounding stablecoins and digital assets is a core focus.

Key Duties Include:

  • Offering comprehensive legal guidance throughout the lifecycle of Circle Account and digital asset products, incorporating emerging blockchain products like stablecoins, NFTs, and decentralized finance.
  • Providing advisory services regarding compliance with US and international laws pertaining to digital assets and virtual asset service providers, particularly concerning international growth and regulatory licensing.
  • Contributing to the Legal team's efforts in enhancing operational efficiency through the development of streamlined processes, protocols, and measurement metrics.
  • Handling legal risks from a business-oriented perspective by devising problem-solving methodologies, strengthening affiliations, and fostering opportunities.
  • Staying abreast of pertinent developments related to cryptocurrencies and digital currencies to maintain effective coverage in the designated product area.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Juris Doctor degree and an active law license in good standing in at least one state.
  • Over 5 years of experience as in-house counsel, specializing in advising product teams or leading regulatory initiatives, particularly within fintech or institutional financial domains.
  • Strong enthusiasm for financial technology with a successful track record in the realm of cryptocurrency or blockchain affairs.
  • Familiarity with the global AML/CFT regulatory environment concerning digital assets.
  • Characteristics of a team player with a positive mindset, exhibiting a keen interest in continuous learning and development, alongside mentoring capabilities.

Additional Details:

Circle's compensation frameworks are carefully crafted, considering various elements such as experience, expertise, and organizational requirements. Compensation structures may differ based on distinct locations.

Base Pay Range: $180,000 - $237,500

Annual Bonus Target: 15%
