The individual selected for this position will form part of a newly established Data Science team that specializes in conducting in-depth research within the crypto market and blockchain technology. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in managing large quantities of data and have a comprehensive understanding of the data science workflow. This role presents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to significantly influence the direction and productivity of this newly formed initiative within a distinguished proprietary trading firm.
Responsibilities:
- Data Sourcing: Identify high-quality and relevant data to align with research objectives and create corresponding tickets for the data team.
- Data Accessibility and Usability: Develop and sustain tools and platforms to enhance visualization and exploration capabilities for the research team.
- Identify Patterns and Trends: Utilize statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze historical data, pinpointing patterns and trends useful for trading strategies and research teams.
- Research and Development: Stay abreast of the latest advances in data science and the crypto sector through ongoing monitoring of research, industry reports, and participation in relevant events.
- Benchmarking: Consistently assess and enhance existing models by gauging their performance against cutting-edge techniques.
- Performance Metrics: Devise metrics and dashboards to monitor the performance of trading strategies, individual symbols, and the overall portfolio, incorporating PnL attribution.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years in the data science field, including 2 years in leadership positions
- Possession of a Master’s degree in EE, CS, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline
- Background in processing and analyzing large-scale data
- Proficiency in Python programming
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn
- Experience in modeling and forecasting, particularly in time series analysis (e.g., NLP)
- Competence in crafting and explaining model architecture, with a strong emphasis on code quality for optimal system design
- Crypto industry knowledge is advantageous but not mandatory
- Experience in finance and trading is beneficial but not a strict requirement
