About the Role:

Figment manages over 70 blockchains and aims to expand further. Bring your expertise to assist us in onboarding more blockchains into our system.

This is a full-time remote role with team members based in North America and Europe.

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to collaborate on scaling our operations through the strategic planning and execution of projects focused on managing blockchain server fleets. This position offers unique opportunities to partake in developing tools where the industry currently lacks adequate solutions. The role involves building robust production systems capable of accommodating newer (often alpha-level) blockchain software, with a holistic approach to security, monitoring, maintainability, and system stability.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Lead the planning, testing, implementation, and management of projects aimed at delivering scalable, maintainable, secure, and stable deployments for various use cases.
• Identify and implement automation solutions to enhance infrastructure management efficiency significantly.
• Identify areas of systemic risk, propose solutions, and oversee their implementation.
• Manage and monitor cloud and physical servers across multiple global hosting services and data centers.
• Automate processes for building, installing, and managing blockchain software.
• Conduct Linux server administration, hardening, intrusion detection, and vulnerability scanning.
• Debug complex distributed blockchains to ensure seamless operation.
• Identify and address bottlenecks or slow-moving processes and support the team in expediting them.
• Articulate overarching initiatives and vision to Engineering Leadership and Product teams.
• Demonstrate technical proficiency across multiple domains and serve as a mentor to team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Extensive experience with Ansible (or similar tools) in environments with over 500 servers.
• Deep knowledge of supporting Linux servers in large, highly secure, and continuously available environments.
• Previous experience working with blockchain nodes or strong familiarity with blockchain technologies.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting complex application flows spanning multiple system clusters and swiftly identifying and remediating issues.
• Understanding of system performance optimization at operating system and application levels.
• Skill in scripting languages like Bash and Python for system administration.
• Expertise in creating structured Terraform modules to ensure reusable cloud provisioning automation.
• Thorough understanding of networking and security best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expertise in Ansible role testing using Molecule or similar tools, and experience in Ansible module development.
• Knowledge of Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake decentralized consensus mechanisms utilized in blockchains.
• Experience working with Kubernetes for application deployment.
• Proficiency in setting up CI/CD pipelines from scratch for infrastructure provisioning and application deployment (e.g., GitHub Actions).
• Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault or similar secure storage solutions.
