Senior Game Designer
Job Summary:
We are in search of a seasoned Game Designer with expertise in crafting engaging survival games to join our team. The ideal applicant will have a robust background in developing open-world experiences, particularly in the realm of Rust-like survival games on both console and PC. As a Senior Game Designer, you will play a crucial role in conceptualizing, implementing, and refining core gameplay features, level designs, and mission structures to heighten player engagement and retention. This role is entirely remote with no specific time zone requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and create immersive large-scale open-world maps and survival game elements such as NPC systems, landmark designs, lootable content, and resource management.
Actively engage in prototyping, fine-tuning, and implementing survival mechanics including NPC AI, loot economy, and resource balancing.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams (art, engineering, audio, QA) to ensure the realization of the design vision.
Develop comprehensive design documentation encompassing Game Design Documents (GDDs), flowcharts, and wireframes.
Refine designs based on playtest feedback, data insights, and industry trends.
Prioritize player experience and uphold high standards of polish and excellence.
Mentor junior designers and foster a positive team-oriented environment.
Report to the Lead Game Designer and closely collaborate with the Creative Director on the game's overall vision.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in game design, specializing in survival, open-world, or battle royale genres.
- Proven track record of successfully launching titles on console or PC.
- Expertise in level design, system design, and content creation tools.
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine for creating expansive map content.
- Thorough understanding of player behavior, emergent gameplay, and monetization strategies.
- Strong English communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and iterative development environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in blueprint scripting or C++.
- Familiarity with animation systems.
- Experience with procedural systems like PCG.
