We are in search of a skilled Senior or Staff Data Engineer to join our FinPlatform team at our London office. The team operates as part of an extensive Data Science division that guides product decisions, develops models, and establishes infrastructure enhancements across efficiency, growth, and security domains. Operating with data from diverse sources varying in quality, we rely on automated ETL processes to cater to the overarching company requirements and internal Data Science team's needs.
The ideal candidate should possess expertise in architecting, constructing, and managing a scalable Data Infrastructure that facilitates convenient access to data for both the Data Science team and a wider audience, via diverse tools. As a data engineer, you will oversee every facet of the data infrastructure, from identifying existing bottlenecks and needs to guaranteeing optimal data quality and accessibility. Continuous collaboration with data scientists, platform engineers, and front-end developers, outlining requisites, and structuring innovative data processes for streaming and batch data processing, as well as maintaining and refining existing processes are critical aspects. We seek an individual enthusiastic about top-notch data quality and well-versed in recognizing their role in real-world problem-solving, emphasizing proactive issue detection, root cause analysis, and problem-solving capabilities.
Senior:
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related field
- Prior experience in data engineering roles
- Proficiency in Python
- Hands-on experience in batch processing and streaming data pipelines
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform
- Profound understanding of SQL and no-SQL databases
- Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming principles
- Exposure to Git
Nice-to-Have:
- Proficiency in code optimization, parallel processing
- Familiarity with Airflow, Google Composer, or Kubernetes Engine
- Exposure to languages like Java, Kotlin, or Scala
- Experience with Big Data frameworks (e.g., Spark)
- Familiarity with distributed and real-time technologies (e.g., Kafka)
- Commercial experience of 5-8 years in a related role
Staff:
What You Will Do:
- Sustain and improve existing data infrastructure as per evolving requirements
- Extend core data infrastructure and current data pipelines and ETL mechanisms
- Advocate best practices and frameworks for data validation and quality assurance, ensuring data accuracy and reliability
- Design, implement, and enhance data visualization, analytics tools, and data products
- Play a pivotal role in setting team directions and objectives
- Develop and deploy high-quality code, conduct thorough code reviews, testing, monitoring, and implement proactive enhancements for stability
- Responsible for implementing complex components or features within the system
