BitGo leads in providing digital asset financial services, catering to institutional investors with liquidity, custody, and security solutions. Established in 2013, BitGo introduced the multi-signature wallet and focuses solely on serving institutional clients. Engaged in both centralized and decentralized finance, BitGo offers top-tier trading, lending, and borrowing services and acts as the custodian for WBTC, a key global stablecoin for Bitcoin. BitGo launched BitGo Portfolio and Tax in 2020, offering a holistic solution for digital assets. The role involves providing regulatory support to BitGo's custody, trading, and staking services in the EMEA region.
Responsibilities:
- Offer guidance on relevant financial services and payments laws and regulations
- Manage regulatory requests and submissions
- Conduct legal regulatory reviews for strategic deals and contracts in EMEA
- Monitor regulatory changes in EMEA (e.g. MICA, DORA, GDPR) and advise on BitGo's implications
- Support ongoing compliance tasks and stay updated on regulatory modifications
- Advise internal stakeholders on regulatory matters in EMEA
- Escalate issues to senior team members as necessary
- Contribute wherever needed, even beyond specified responsibilities
Requirements:
- Possess a Law Degree and be a fully qualified lawyer
- Have at least 4 years of post-qualification experience in a top-tier law firm with exposure to international legal systems and/or in-house legal experience at an international financial services firm
- Hands-on experience engaging with regulators and external auditors
- Capability to manage multiple tasks with evolving deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to assess and balance legal risks against business interests
- Preferably have interest in blockchain and digital assets
- Maintain a flexible and proactive attitude with a desire to learn
- Exhibit full fluency in English, both written and verbal
