As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a key player in developing a scalable data platform and member management solution for an exciting new product suite focused on Public Safety. Your responsibilities will include leading the technical development, addressing complex challenges in data exchange and performance, contributing to architectural decisions, and mentoring team members. You will work hands-on with technologies such as Ruby and Rust in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, create, and maintain scalable APIs for complex products.
  • Manage and develop large-scale, reliable data pipelines.
  • Write clean, tested, and well-documented code following best practices like TDD and code reviews.
  • Contribute to technical discussions, architectural reviews, and product roadmap planning.
  • Mentor junior engineers and advocate for engineering best practices.
  • Take ownership of technical solutions and assist in shaping team culture.

Requirements

Mandatory Skills:

  • Over 7 years of software engineering experience.
  • Proficient in Rust and/or Ruby and Rails.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and building APIs and large-scale data systems.
  • Enthusiasm for writing high-quality code and utilizing modern development practices.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in collaborative, distributed teams.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with mission-critical, highly available systems.
