Staff Software Engineer - Staking

BitGo is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the Staking team. The team is focused on constructing resilient and scalable systems for integrating blockchains, ensuring secure custody and staking of significant funds. They are in search of candidates who possess autonomy, prioritize security, exhibit expertise in distributed systems, and display an in-depth understanding of the cryptocurrency landscape. This role mainly entails remote work, with an expectation for those within a reasonable commuting distance to participate in the office on Wednesdays.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

• Take charge or play a substantial role in sizable, multi-person initiatives spanning engineering teams.
• Provide comprehensive technical guidance across various domains and initiatives.
• Set and drive the long-term technical direction for the team.
• Known for offering high-quality technical contributions and feedback on technical designs.
• Influence strategic direction, roadmap planning, and ensuring team triumph.

Engineering Responsibilities:

• Design and build scalable, well-structured, and robust APIs, libraries, and services to integrate blockchains and staking capabilities into custody platforms.
• Assume ownership of functionalities and scalability features from conception to deployment.
• Create integration libraries and SDKs for seamless server and API interaction.
• Document and expose functions to UI, third-party developers, and internal/external tools.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams and product managers to ensure consistent work quality and a unified understanding of technical requirements.

Mentorship and Collaboration:

• Guide peers across the broader engineering team through mentorship, fostering growth via code reviews and best practice education.

Skills & Experience:

Required:

• Minimum of 8 years' experience in back-end, server-side software development.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.JS and / or Kotlin.
• Skilled in unit and functional testing and debugging.
• Ability to offer simple and scalable abstractions for intricate systems.
• Experienced in Git/GitHub, branching methodologies, code review tools, and CI tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, applied mathematics, or related technical discipline from a top-tier university.
• Interest and understanding of cryptocurrencies and blockchain.
• Proficient in algorithm design, problem-solving, and complexity analysis.
• Capability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.

Preferred:

• Understanding and experience in the blockchain and / or security industry.
• Familiarity with microservices and service-oriented architectures.
• Full-stack capability and knowledge of React and Databases (MongoDB).
• Proficient in Docker and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience in building scalable distributed systems.

Pay Transparency Notice:

Depending on your level and location, the average compensation for this role ranges from $185,000 - $235,000 USD base salary. Equity, an annual performance bonus, and the outlined benefits form part of this role's package.
