This position for an AI Hardware Engineer offers an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to become part of Foundry, a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group - a key investor in the blockchain industry. Reporting to the VP of AI, the AI Hardware Engineer will be tasked with the design, development, execution, and optimization of hardware systems tailored for AI applications.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize and introduce custom hardware solutions for AI-powered blockchain applications, aligned with developing and integrating software components to enhance innovation and efficiency.
• Focus on creating optimal hardware architectures for AI workloads, emphasizing performance, efficiency, and scalability.
• Collaborate closely with AI software engineers to guarantee seamless integration of hardware and software elements, thereby enhancing overall system performance.
• Design and test hardware prototypes, ensuring they meet design specifications and performance requirements.
• Conduct performance assessments and analysis of AI hardware to identify constraints and improvement areas.
• Engage with hardware vendors to assess and integrate GPUs into AI infrastructure.
• Stay abreast of the latest AI hardware technologies, contribute to research and development initiatives to sustain company innovation.
• Prepare and sustain comprehensive documentation for hardware designs, specifications, and testing methodologies.
• Provide technical support for hardware-related concerns, ensuring efficient resolution and minimal disruption.

Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or similar fields.
• Over 3 years of experience in hardware engineering, with a preference for experience in optimizing hardware for AI applications.
• Competence in high-performance computing (HPC) principles and methods.
• Comprehensive understanding of computer architecture, memory hierarchies, and data flow optimization.
• Familiarity with AI and machine learning algorithms and frameworks.
• Proficiency in designing and optimizing GPU-based hardware systems for AI workloads.
• Mastery in cloud computing platforms and services for deploying and managing GPU environments.
• Experience with containerization platforms like Docker and Kubernetes for GPU orchestration.
• Expertise in hardware acceleration technologies such as CUDA, Open CL, or Tensor Cores.
• Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting intricate hardware-software interactions.
• Alignment with security best practices for AI hardware systems, with a focus on data privacy and protection measures.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to collaborate efficiently across various teams.

• Understanding of cryptocurrency and blockchain fundamentals.

The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $140,000, comprising base compensation only. However, other tangible benefits such as 401K match, bonuses, overtime pay, and additional benefits are not included within this range.
