Responsibilities
Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel - Transactions, you will be instrumental in commercial transactional activities, particularly in supporting our Business and Business Development segments, as well as our compliance and vendor management teams. Your role will involve the facilitation of new product offerings and expansion into emerging markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to various teams within the company, including Product, Business, Compliance, and Finance, by collaborating closely and establishing effective communication channels.
- Structure, negotiate, and draft agreements related to fintech, payments, and vendor transactions, balancing legal considerations with business objectives to enhance partnerships and opportunities.
- Support the development and enhancement of contract templates and terms of use in alignment with the evolving product and service portfolio.
- Contribute to the establishment of streamlined processes, procedures, and metrics, including optimizing contracting processes, to enhance the delivery of legal services.
- Stay informed about developments in finance, payments, and digital currency to provide accurate compliance advice and mitigate legal risks effectively.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on legal experience, with preference given to individuals with experience in both law firm (AM Law 50) and in-house settings.
- Proven track record in drafting and negotiating agreements in fintech, financial services, and technology sectors.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally on strategic partnerships, particularly with Product, Business, and Compliance teams.
- Passion for financial technology, cryptocurrency, and blockchain technology, along with a collaborative spirit, sense of humor, and commitment to continuous learning and mentoring.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment, managing multiple projects concurrently and adapting to changes effectively.
- Strong business acumen to provide pragmatic legal advice, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage legal risks appropriately.
- Autonomous work style while being able to work collaboratively within a team setting.
- JD degree from a reputable law school, preferably a "T-14" school or a US News & World Report Top 50 law school, with active bar membership in at least one state.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Slack, and Apple MacOS is advantageous.
