Job Summary:
Circle, a leading financial technology company revolutionizing the global movement of money, is seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our dynamic Data Engineering team as a Director. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Engineering teams to develop and implement innovative data solutions and scalable pipelines, driving internal data utilization and strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Data Engineering will play a pivotal role in spearheading data engineering initiatives, liaising across departments, and contributing as a subject matter expert. Among your key responsibilities are serving as a workforce leader, partnering with various teams to enhance data platforms and datasets, overseeing the growth and development of team members, and ensuring the efficiency of data warehouse operations.
Key Duties:
- Lead data engineering projects and maintain effective cross-functional communication
- Collaborate with Analytics, Product, and Engineering departments to optimize data platforms and drive strategic initiatives
- Mentor and nurture team members, fostering their professional development and output
- Develop comprehensive expertise in data sources and ETL workflows at Circle
- Manage and streamline data warehouse operations and relevant tools
- Oversee a team of data engineers, including managers and individual contributors

Requirements:
- 10+ years of industry experience in working with large datasets and modern data tools
- 5+ years of technical leadership and people management experience
- Proficiency in Python and SQL, alongside expertise in database and data warehouse design
- Hands-on experience with software development tools like Linux, Git, and AWS
- Strong background in developing and implementing data modeling solutions at scale
- Ability to analyze complex business challenges and structure analytics projects effectively
- Proven ability in managing and retaining talented data engineering professionals
- Prior experience in remote team management
Additional Details:
This full-time position offers a base pay range of $227,500 to $292,500, along with an annual bonus target of 20% and comprehensive benefits including equity, medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) options.
