Director of Design Integration
Job Overview
The position of the Director, Design Integration – AI Data Centers entails serving as the primary technical lead from the company side responsible for overseeing, evaluating, and merging engineering and design tasks associated with CleanSpark's AI Data Center portfolio. Significant collaboration is required with Development, Power, Construction, and Operations teams, as well as external engineering consultants, to ensure that design outcomes are in line with operational necessities, infrastructure standards, and deployment goals.
This role includes being a crucial technical resource that facilitates scalable and replicable AI data center installations while aiming to reduce the reliance on external design partners. Duties involve conducting comprehensive reviews and coordination of engineering and design deliverables across multiple AI data center projects, managing different disciplines, supporting development of Basis of Design (BoD) standards, identifying and addressing design risks and integration issues early in project cycles, and collaborating closely with teams to maintain alignment between design intentions and deployment targets. The role also encompasses driving uniformity and standardization across various site deployments, as well as providing technical advice and updates to project and executive leadership.
Prerequisites
- Holding a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- Possessing a minimum of 10 years of experience in supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, energy, utility, or significant infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrating expertise in coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering and design activities.
- Having a strong grasp of site development, utility infrastructure, and integrated facility design.
- Previous experience in managing engineering consultants and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to review engineering drawings, technical reports, and infrastructure studies.
- Exhibiting strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in supporting AI, hyperscale, HPC, mission-critical, or data center environments.
- Preference for a civil engineering or infrastructure development background.
- Previous involvement in supporting Basis of Design (BoD), design integration, and constructability reviews.
- Possession of PE, RA, PMP, or similar professional certification is favored.
- Prior experience in supporting owner-side development or infrastructure delivery organizations.
