Responsibilities:
Enhancing Operational Efficiency (80% Focus):
- Development of Operational Excellence: Define and implement standards for code quality, documentation, testing coverage, and architectural review.
- Establishing Clarity and Alignment: Structuring sprint planning, roadmap processes, and frameworks for priority-setting to ensure the team operates with direction.
- Release Process Ownership: Design deployment procedures encompassing proper testing, monitoring, and incident response protocols.
- Enabling Strategic Direction: Assume responsibility for day-to-day technical decision-making and engineering operations to allow company leadership to focus on strategic endeavors.
Team Leadership and Growth (20% Focus):
- Mentoring Engineers: Support engineers in expanding their skills and impact.
- Cultivating a Strong Team Culture: Institute team rituals that foster high performance.
- Facilitating Collaboration: Promote collaboration among product, operations, and engineering departments.
- Recruiting and Hiring: As we scale beyond our current team, contribute to the recruitment and hiring processes.
Qualifications:
Essential Skills:
- Proven Leadership: Successfully led engineering teams of 10-50+ individuals at high-growth startups or infrastructure firms.
- Strategic Thinker: Adaptable in implementing best practices tailored to the stage, team size, and specific requirements.
- Process Management: Proficient in establishing and enhancing various software development processes.
- Technical Acumen: Demonstrated ability to review code, troubleshoot production issues, and earn the respect of skilled engineers.
- Startup Mindset: Capable of moving swiftly, prioritizing effectively, and being hands-on when necessary.
- Collaborative Spirit: Committed to problem-solving and contributing to success without being title-focused.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience with Rust, distributed systems, or high-performance infrastructure.
- Background in crypto/blockchain infrastructure.
- Proven experience scaling engineering in fast-growing startup environments.
- Worked in high-stakes scenarios where downtime carries significant financial consequences.
Salary Range:
$225,000 - $275,000 annually.
