Engineering Manager (Retail Trading)

Your role will involve actively contributing to the design of scalable applications, spanning from frontend user interfaces to backend infrastructure.
We are in search of a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead our diverse Retail Trading team. In this pivotal position, you will supervise a talented group of iOS, Android, Backend, and QA engineers, guiding them in creating and expanding our innovative retail trading products. As a crucial engineering liaison to the Product Manager, you will influence the technical direction, oversee implementation, and cultivate a culture of excellence and rapid innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and nurture a proficient cross-functional engineering team (iOS, Android, Backend, QA) within a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Technical Strategy & Execution: Collaborate closely with the Product Manager to outline the product roadmap and technical strategy, ensuring end-to-end delivery of new features and products.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary engineering representative, working closely with product, design, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment and successful execution.
- Addressing Technical Gaps: Proactively identify and resolve technical, process, or resource deficiencies within the engineering team to facilitate smooth and efficient development cycles.
- Architecture Oversight: Guide the team in making informed architectural decisions for scalable, secure, and dependable systems supporting our global retail trading platform.
- Operational Excellence: Advocating for software development best practices, including agile methodologies, code reviews, testing, and CI/CD for timely and high-quality deliveries.
- Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate project status, risks, and technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Fostering Innovation and Growth: Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, empowering the team to experiment with new technologies and solutions to address complex challenges.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated Leadership Skills: Proven experience in leading, managing, and mentoring software engineering teams, preferably within a cross-functional setting encompassing mobile (iOS/Android) and backend engineers.
- Strong Technical Proficiency: Solid background in software development with the capacity to contribute to technical discussions and architectural choices. Familiarity with technologies like Golang, Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Redis, and Kafka is advantageous.
- Mobile Development Expertise: Experience in native mobile development (iOS, Android) and/or cross-platform frameworks like React Native is desirable.
- Product Collaboration: Previous engagement as a pivotal engineering partner with product managers to bring successful products to market.
- Industry Knowledge: Proficient understanding of the retail trading, fintech, or financial services sector is beneficial. Knowledge of blockchain technology is a bonus.
- Problem-Solving Aptitude: Solution-focused mindset with a track record of navigating ambiguity, addressing complex technical issues, and driving projects to completion.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication capabilities to manage diverse priorities and engage stakeholders effectively.
- Scalability and Performance Expertise: Experience in designing and constructing scalable, secure, and high-performance systems for large-scale applications.
