As an Engineering Manager at Anchorage Digital, your primary aim is to facilitate the prosperous development of the engineering team. You will be responsible for recruiting high-caliber Engineers to bolster team growth, supporting team members in achieving their career aspirations, and fostering processes to uphold a high-performing engineering team.

Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and refine the engineering roadmap, drive operational excellence, and craft a technology strategy for your team.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and discernment in resolving intricate and uncertain challenges, delivering scalable solutions.
  • Prioritize the well-being, satisfaction, and personal and professional growth of every team member.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Lead a team of Engineers, ensuring quality in execution, timely delivery, impact, and development.
  • Act as a mentor and advisor, providing guidance and feedback to elevate the capabilities of your team.

Collaborative Involvement:

  • Take charge of execution quality, timely delivery, processes, impact, and personal and professional development within your team.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers to define product investments, ensuring alignment between product plans, team capacity, technical constraints, and team growth strategies.

Effective Communication and Influence:

  • Engage with other engineering managers, product management, recruitment, and the broader engineering team to drive team expansion, retention, and recruitment efforts.
  • Play a significant role not only in determining Anchorage's projects but also in selecting the talents tasked with building them, thus managing the growth strategy, recruitment processes, and performance evaluations of your team.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience managing, mentoring, and nurturing a team distributed geographically.
  • Hands-on experience in developing complex distributed systems. Proficiency in Go is preferred but adaptability to different programming languages is valued.
  • Enjoy building and maintaining services from the ground up over extended periods.
  • Strong focus on code quality, test infrastructure, end-user experience, and business value.
  • Proficient in computer science fundamentals like concurrency, algorithms, and data structures, with or without a formal CS degree.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience in applied cryptography is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with blockchain protocol white papers and interest in emerging cryptoasset innovations.
  • Preferably proficient in Go, Rust, TypeScript, or Solidity.
