About the Role
This position is a key technical role within the Infrastructure Engineering team at Wintermute. The role involves maintaining, optimizing, and scaling a mixed environment spanning physical and virtual computing landscapes. The main responsibilities include overseeing and enhancing server and network infrastructure, offering high-level technical support for systems, and driving automation setups.
We are seeking a proactive infrastructure professional who can take charge of our computing environment. In this role, you will collaborate with senior engineers to scale systems, develop automation solutions (especially in Python), and adapt to the evolving needs of the business. Success in this role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing networks, routing protocols, and computing systems.

Hard Skills Requirements:
- Problem-Solving & Agility: Ability to find optimal solutions for various problems, ranging from data center connectivity management to hardware troubleshooting.
- Network & Data Centre Foundations: Solid grasp of data center connectivity, structured cabling, and core TCP/IP networking concepts.
- Cisco Networking: Hands-on experience with configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Cisco switches.
- OS & Hardware Expertise: Proficient in server hardware, network appliances, server OS (specifically Linux), and troubleshooting network infrastructure issues.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in systems administration, network infrastructure engineering, or related roles.
- Network Troubleshooting: Experience diagnosing network performance issues using tools like Wireshark and traceroute.
- Hardware Lifecycle: Ability to analyze and resolve complex hardware failures and performance bottlenecks.
- Version Control: Familiarity with Git workflow.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team supporting production systems.
- Performance Management: Experience with hardware/network monitoring tools and performance tuning.
- Professional Communication: Strong communication skills in technical interactions.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility & Support: Availability for weekend and evening shifts and out-of-business-hours support when needed.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Security & Firewalls: Experience with enterprise firewalls and ACLs.
- Routing Protocols: Basic familiarity with routing protocols like BGP and OSPF.
- Server Administration: Knowledge of enterprise Linux server environments and automated deployment tools.
- Automation: Experience scripting in Python for network administration tasks.
