Scope of the role:
To support our business growth, we are seeking a Legal Counsel to report to the General Counsel at our London office.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Undertake a diverse workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Assist the business by meeting deadlines to review and/or draft various documentation, including NDAs, Master Trading Agreements, ISDA Schedules, and more.
- Support the HR department in preparing and/or negotiating employment agreements, consultancy agreements, and handling employers of record.
- Aid in reviewing and/or negotiating supplier/vendor terms and conditions, master service agreements, exchange terms of use, and others.
- Assist with corporate and company secretarial matters, such as preparing board minutes, updating registers, and filing documentation with relevant authorities.
- Stay informed on laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions and provide advice on how they impact the business.
- Support business operations across jurisdictions in applying for licenses with local regulators.
- Stay current with regulatory developments in the digital asset space, maintaining open communication with compliance.
- Review digital assets and other products the business intends to trade from a regulatory and legal standpoint.
- Conduct legal administrative tasks, like arranging document execution and proper filing of documentation.
Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor admitted to practice in England and Wales with 3-8 years PQE in a leading law firm and/or in-house.
- Experience in a financial institution or fintech environment.
- Demonstrated interest and understanding of laws and regulations relevant to digital assets.
- Understanding of MIFID, FSMA, EMIR, and MICA.
- Ability to manage a diverse workload in high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication skills.
Skills Desired:
- Experience in a digital asset and/or FX trading setting.
- Ability to negotiate ISDA and other transactional trading documentation.
- Experience working with New York law or admitted to practice in the US.
- Familiarity with corporate matters like incorporating new entities, governance, and company secretarial tasks.
